My daughter has been Door Dashing for six months and made an extra $1,500 in December. Of course, that was bustin' her tail on nights and weekends on the side of her full-time job. But she still does it whenever she can and brings in an extra few hundred to a thousand a month.
So, how did I get started?
Well, she lives about 45 minutes away from me and I go there about once a week or so to hang out. During those visits, we always eat out and do some shopping. I'll usually also go with her to Door Dash a little when she gets off work. She typically makes at least enough to cover her meals for the day.
After a few months of this, I thought I might give it a try, too. We're out doing it anyway. Why not sign up myself?
So, around mid-July, I signed up. You can get started as soon as they do the background check. It doesn't take long. I think it was a day or two?
So, here's the good stuff:
I only did a few days last month — just whenever I went to visit my daughter. And…
I made $315.83!
I thought that was pretty awesome. Some of that profit went to gas, of course, but I drive a little car that gets like 379,000 miles to the gallon.
I actually have no idea how much it gets, but it's a lot.
So, I'd say out of that revenue, about $40 went to gas. I'm not counting the gas I spent to get there because I was going there anyway.
But how cool is it that I made enough to more than cover the cost of my trips there and eating out?
In fact, one of my top budgeting tips is to pick up a side hustle to cover unnecessary spending.
And this is a great one!
Just dashing during a lunch hour can earn you an extra $15–20 a day. That adds up. Think about it — even an extra $10 a day is $300 a month if you do it every day.
This might be one of my favorite new side hustles. What's yours?
