Inspired by driving in the rain…welcoming the rain back…although I wish it would rain just when I sleep not when I am driving…

Poem written in Vancouver, VA in a writing group called: "Just Shut Up and Write". We met in the bookstore "White Oak Books".

Driving in The Rain

Morning wetness, Drop by drop, Visits me as I walk, Heading toward my car.

The rain visits, With relentless form.

Today will be the day, When I keep driving In the rain.

Kip and Kop Tip and Top.

The rain flows Lighter and harder, As I go toward my work.

Stopping for moments, To start again.

Rain my darling, Here we go again.

Hip and Hop, The water particles drop.

Here and There, Splish and Splash. Water evades the roads, As it floods.

Lights and Heights, Reach new kites.

Dark grey sky, Turns into a molded high.

Trees and bushes Holding on Hard, Hoping the flood, Will not take, Their heart.

Swish and swush, The water moves, In a united way.

There is no hope, To get out of its way.

It is simply just better, To dance in the rain.

Get all wet, With no regret.

If you can today, Stop take time, Smile with joy, Dance with the Hip — Hop Tip — Top Swish and Swush Splash and Mush In the Rain.
